AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation that provides intercultural learning opportunitis to help more people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. AFS has been running programmes since 1947, and is the only organisation of its kind to receive a citation from the UN in recognition of its work for world youth. AFS UK is a partner in the International AFS network of over 50 different countries worldwide.
