Powerful Partnerships is an independent organisation, providing Citizen Advocacy for people labelled as having a learning disability. Our main aim is to recruit and support members of the public to become Citizen Advocates. 'Advocacy' is about supporting people to speak up for what they want and ensure their views are heard. It describes a situation where one person supports another. Citizen Advocates build long-term relationships with their partners, on a one-to-one basis, and encourage people to become active and included in their community. The loyalty of an advocate is to their partner, and not to Powerful Partnerships.
