When We Need You
From 15/08/2012 to 30/04/2013
About Opportunity
As a charity with a prominent collection of artworks that we rent out to brighten up healthcare settings, we are now seeking volunteers to help update the information provided on the labels beside each of our artworks on display. This will involve research, writing and an understanding of art. Using the latest QR code technology, we are creating links for each of the artworks and artists on a new website, which if you get involved, will feature YOUR research and writing! This will be an interesting and worthwhile task for volunteers, providing them with the opportunity to see and comment on a range of our artworks at the main Hospitals around Edinburgh. Furthermore, researchers will be encouraged to make direct contact with the artists and to think for themselves about what they make of the artworks.

About Art in Healthcare
• Through partnerships, to create a stimulating visual environment in healthcare across Scotland • To demonstrate the positive contribution of art to the wellbeing of everyone in healthcare communities • To be the leading visual arts service provider for hospitals and healthcare in Scotland • To provide audiences in Scottish healthcare settings with the widest possible access to original and high quality contemporary arts
Skills & Experience
Ideally the person will have a combination of experience researching in the Arts and writing up their findings. A personal appreciation of artworks would be beneficial, likewise in interest in the benefits of art for healthcare settings.
Travel Details
The opportunity is home-based although we encourage volunteers, where possible, to see the artworks they are writing about ‘in situ’. Some artworks may be located too far away in which case they can work from online images; we also suggest that volunteers source information from different places, such as online and the City Libraries.
