Contact Centre Volunteer
When We Need You
From 15/03/2004 onwards
Volunteers will help organisers in the smooth running of the centre, attend briefing/debriefing sessions on families expected to use the centre that day and to answer telephones and the door when organisers are otherwise engaged, the opportunity takes place every 2nd Saturday. Volunteers will be expected to attend training on the work of the contact centre, family law and child protection issues. Disclosure (scotland) checks will be carried out. Volunteers will not be required to give advice, provide counselling or express opinion although they may be required to provide ideas for play, suitable age-appropriate toy and materials. Volunteers will help with 'handovers' of children from resident to non-resident parents. Volunteers will, from time to time, check on resident parent and where appropriate provide / offer tea and coffee.
About Family Mediation Ayrshire
A contact centre aims to benefit children by protecting them from parental conflict. A contact centre is somewhere non-resident parents can meet their children. a contact centre provides a neutral venue and safe environment for parents to have access to their children or as a pick-up and drop off point. Parents using the contact centre do not have to meet. The contact centre is a 'Stepping Stone' to enable contact to be established / Re-established and through time to allow other arrangements to be made.
Skills & Experience
None - Full training will be provided
Initially in Kilmarnock but after training it is hoped that other premises will be available in North and South Ayrshire. Travelling expenses will be provided.
Training and Induction Details
Child protection training, situation training, 'on job' training. Support from saturday organisers and contact centre manager.

Frequency & Commitment
4 hours per Fortnight. Minimum Commitment: 18 Month
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
