About Talking Tandems (VC)

Talking Tandems is a tandem cycling club that promotes the intergration of individuals who are blind, partially sighted or have a dual sensory loss with sighted people by enabling them to enjoy all apects of cycling thus building confidence to change lives in varied and positive ways

Skills & Experience

Live in West or Central Fife; Own their own bicycle; Can cycle at least 15 miles mainly on quiet roads and occasionally cycle paths (this does not include mountain bike tracks); Improve basic fitness levels, cycling skills and techniques; Are willing to learn how to transfer their cycling skills to tandem cycling; Can commit at least one monthly tandem cycling session to this development project; Are willing to take part in cycling specific training courses.

Travel Details

West and Central Fife Reimburse travel expenses: 40p car mileage allowance; Public transport expenses

Training and Induction Details

We promote learning by doing. Volunteer pilots offer: regular informal social evenings; developing basic cycling techniques and basic first aid certificated training delivered by the British Red Cross.
