About Opportunity
Do you have some time to spare once a week and can offer support to someone lonely and vulnerable? Amina are looking for female volunteers to provide companionship and support to socially isolated Muslim and minority ethnic women in the Southside of Glasgow. Our volunteers visit women at home or accompany them to activities; working alongside them to encourage social and community involvement. In return we offer you a comprehensive training programme, support through personal development, ongoing support and improvement of employability prospects. There are places available on our next training course, on Wednesday 25 April and Thursday 3 May. *****HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?***** Contact us by email or phone using the contact details on this page, or complete the Register Interest form now. We will get back to you within 7 working days and arrange to send you an application form. If you do not hear back from us within this time, please contact the Volunteer Centre. It should take around 6 weeks to start volunteering with us, dependant upon PVG scheme membership.

About AMINA-Muslim Womens Resource Centre
MWRC provides many services aimed at encouraging the development of Muslim women and through this the Muslim community. The services we provide enable continuous study and evaluation of the changing needs of Muslim women. These will be used as a basis of discussion with local authorities and other service providers to help make their services more responsive to the needs of Muslim women and Muslim community in general. All our services operate within a strict code of confidentiality and non-judmentalism. Though MWRC tailors its services to suite the needs of Muslim women, the centre welcomes all women to access our services. WE aim to offer services in the users first language using interpreters where necessary.
Skills & Experience
Volunteers should have the ability to relate to a wide range of people, be non-judgemental and have a commitment to anti-discrimination. You should be willing to commit some time every week and be able to attend training. We would be especially keen to hear from women who can speak Kurdish, Arabic, Swahili, Urdu or Punjabi, however this is not essential as most of our service users speak English.
