About Dumfries Welfare Rights
The purpose of Dumfries Welfare Rights is to relievee poverty and advance education through the provision of specialist advice, advocacy and assistance in the fields of social security, hosing and other matters of concern. Our facilities include a drop-in office, home visits, and unique interactive benefit advice website. Since July 2011 we have been running a charity shop in Lincluden to help make the advice office sustainable in these difficult financial times. It is in the charity shop that we are looking to recruit volunteers.
We are truly a community based charity shop. Our ethos is to keep prices affordable for all and we pride ourselves on being the cheapest charity shop in Dumfries. We provide a weekly benefit advice surgery from an office in the charity shop every Wednesday morning. We work in partnership with D&G Starter Packs to provide newly housed homeless with essential household items to enable them to start making a home and helping to reduce repeat homelessness
