About Daisy Chain Early Years Project
The Daisy Chain Early Years Project is a brand new centre set up by CrossReach for young children (under 8 years) and their families in Govanhill. We provide a fun, safe and welcoming environment where parents and their children can relax, play and be supported with a range of issues. We aim to support parents, develop children's self esteem and confidence, support early literacy, decrease isolation of children and families and improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families. We provide play sessions with soft play, crafts, messy play and more. In addition, we will be providing storytelling sessions, parenting support and providing support for young families with arising issues such a those affected by substance abuse, post natal depression, or children with a parent in prison. The centre will involve and encourage the particpation of the children and parents in deciding what services they want and how to develop the centre for the future.
Skills & Experience
Experience of children and families would be ideal, but more importantly is the ability to empathise. Volunteers should be keen, enthusiastic, confident and have a genuine interest in children and supporting parents. Some cultural awareness of the Romanian Roma client group would be beneficial.
