When We Need You
From 10/02/2012 onwards
About Opportunity
Are you aged 18 – 30 and have been a young person/child in the Care System? Do you have passion and ideas about what needs to change in the care system to make it better for children and young people? We are a group of young adults who meet every Wednesday night to discuss our thoughts and ideas about what we can do as a group to make life better for young people leaving care. Come along and meet us, see what we do and see if you like it. As it is the group that decides what we are going to do, every week is different. This year we did some radio interviews with the BBC, we spoke to a researcher about what support young people need when they leave care, we went to the cinema, we updated our group agreement and we have started planning an activity for our national conference. A usual meeting starts off with having some dinner together and catching up, then we will get on with work and then have some chill time before we all head home. We have regular trips to celebrate special occasions and as a thanks to everyone for all their hard work. If you come along you can share your ideas about what you think we should be doing. We are a friendly group of young adults who want to inspire young people and show them and others that young people have a voice that needs to be listened too. **HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?** If you are interested in this opportunity please get in touch with us using the contact details on this page. Alternatively you can register your interest directly using the Register Interest facility.
