About Opportunity

To assist and support young people aged 16-18, who have complex needs, to access positive social activities and help build their social skills and self efficiency. Key tasks include; - To uphold Barnardo's policies and procedures - To adhere to Barnardo's policies and procedures - Befriend young people and give practical assistance and support to encourage self reliance - Build up a positive relationship with young people by meeting them regularly - Encourage and support young people to access resources in the community - Assist young people to develop social skills and positive appropriate relationships - Maintain appropriate records - participate fully in training and supervision

About Barnardo's Axis Lanarkshire

Barnardo's Axis is a service for young people living within Lanarkshire, aged 16 – 18 years old, who are affected by their own, or someone else’s substance misuse and other related issues.

Skills & Experience

Experience or an interest in working with young people with complex needs; Have confidence to support someone when entering a new situation; Be able to listen and act as a positive role model; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Dedicated, committed, reliability and good time keeping; Passion, compassion, understanding and open minded; Ability to set and keep clear guidelines/boundaries; Preferably have a driving license and access to a car.

Travel Details

Takes place throughout South & North Lanarkshire.

Disclosure Check & References will be required.

Application Form, Induction/Training, Informal Chat, Interview, Police Check, References

Training and Induction Details

An intensive induction training programme will be given along with a structured training programme throughout the year. There is a named worker available for support.
