About Opportunity
The Befriending scheme aims to help service users who lack family or friends nearby, feel isolated or are unable to get out very easily on their own.
Build a relationship with, visit, and share activities with an individual service user.
Attend support and training sessions.
Keep a record of each meeting with a service user.
Maintain a non-discriminatory and non-judgmental approach to service users.
Work within the Associations Policies and Procedures.

About Bield Housing & Care
Bield have been providing housing and care for older people throughout Scotland since 1971.
The Volunteer section promotes and develops the involvement of volunteers within Bield. This includes co-ordinating volunteer recruitment and offering support to both staff and volunteers.

and listening skills, are reliable and
willing to work as part of a team.
Travel Details
We encourage volunteers to use the most economical form of travel to and from the development

Training and Induction Details
Induction Training
Induction Day Required
Ongoing Training
Regular support is given by an individual member of staff. You will receive an induction into your place of volunteering and the tasks you undertake, and be offered an initial four visit trial period. Other relevant training may be undertaken where appropriate.
Taster Details
Scheme visits are welcome but volunteers would not be able to volunteer on a one-to-one basic until the recruitment procedure is complete

Expenses Detail
Mileage of 45p per mile up to 15 miles from the scheme - 30 miles in total per time. Volunteers complete a claim form, have this approved by their line manager, and Bield pay by BACS. Trains, buses are reimbursed in full.

Frequency & Commitment
A regular commitment e.g. two hours per week or fortnight or at set periods throughout the year as agreed with your Volunteer Line Manager. Minimum of 6 months commitment
Minimum Age
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
