About Opportunity
Food Train provide a low cost home delivery service of grocery shopping to elderly people who aren't able to get out and shop for themselves. Our volunteer shoppers shop from the orders that customers have written. Effective checking of the order whilst shopping makes sure that our customers get what they want. Shoppers start at 8am in Sainsburys, Newton Stewart and shop until the orders are finished - it usually takes 1.5-2 hours. We have 2 or 3 volunteers shopping at the same time. Volunteer shoppers generally shop weekly or fortnightly. It is also very useful to have volunteers who can be relief shoppers, who can be called upon occasionally when regular shoppers are not available.
