About Opportunity

Volunteers will provide the following support: - Undertake one to one sessions with young people to increase their literacy/numeracy skills - Design an Individual Learning Support Plan based on the individuals needs and goals - Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual’s needs and abilities. - To uphold Barnardo’s basis and values - To adhere to Barnardo's policies and procedures - Maintain appropriate records - Participate fully in training and supervision

About Barnardo's - Axis Lanarkshire Project

Barnardo's Axis is a service for young people living within Lanarkshire aged 16-18, who are affected by their own or someone else's substance misuse and other related issues.

Skills & Experience

Skills / knowledge required: - An appropriate professional Literacy qualification - Experience or an interest in working with young people with complex needs - Effective communication skills - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Dedicated, committed, reliability and good time keeping - Passion, compassion, understanding and open minded - Ability to set and keep clear guidelines and boundaries

Travel Details

This opportunity will be working with young people throughout North and South Lanarkshire.
