About Opportunity
Tenteleni is an entirely volunteer-run charity that supports UK university students travelling to placements in sub-Saharan Africa to engage in cultural exchange and skill sharing in a variety of formal and non-formal settings, including schools, communities and children's homes. We aim to form and maintain long and lasting relationships with people and organisations within the placements and the countries we operate in, to ensure a sustainable positive impact. Volunteer run means no paid staff whatsoever. This allows us to spend 90% of the money raised by volunteers in the country on the project. There are 9 different projects in 5 different countries (Zanzibar, Swaziland, Kenya, Malawi and South Africa), all offering unique, culturally immersive experiences, yet all focussed on education. Project times vary to suit a variety of degree programmes (under/postgrad) – see http://www.tenteleni.org/projects/index
