About Opportunity

You will be responsible for meeting the daily needs of pets in your care, including feeding, cleaning, grooming, exercising and socialising until the pet is re-homed. Work with the Development Manager with regards to admission and rehoming of pets, including visits to a potential adopters home. Maintain written records about pets in your care, including behaviour, health, dietary and other information. Organise trips to the veterinary surgery, as required. Increase the number of pets re-homed by The Blue Cross.

About The Blue Cross

The Blue Cross is a registered UK animal welfare charity. Our aims are to: Ensure the welfare of animals by providing practical care. Highlight the benefits of companionship between animals and people. Promote a sense of respect and responsibility towards animals in the community. We provide support to the nations pets and their owners by: Treating pets whose owners cannot afford private veterinary treatment. Finding permanent homes for unwanted abandoned animals. Educating the public in responsible animal ownership.

Skills & Experience

You have experience as pet ownership. You have use of a suitable vehicle to transport a foster pet if needed. You are able to work as part of a team and be good communicator. You are reliable, compassionate and able to work on your own initiative.

In the volunteers home.

Age restriction, must be at least 18yrs old Parental consent required.

Training and Induction Details

A comprehensive Training and Information Manual is provided, along with ongoing support and as required professional behaviourist support.

Expenses Detail

Yes. Mileage 40p per mile for the first 100 miles then 10p per mile. Phone calls - will be reimbursed subject to agreement. Other expenses e.g stationery costs.
