About Opportunity

Home-Start Aberdeen are a city wide charity that works with children under 5 and their families, who have additional needs. Home-Start Aberdeen are setting up a Social Enterprise arm of the charity to enable the organisation to become more self sufficient and raise additional funds. The Board of Trustees are looking for additional members with particular skills to help them in the development of a business, and in particular someone who has a legal background to negotiate leases etc. A great opportunity to help in the continuing development of a local charity and make a positive difference.

About Home-Start Aberdeen

Home-Start in Aberdeen offers support, friendship and practical help to young families under stress within their own home. Volunteers should have parenting experience. They attend a preparation course and are matched with 1 or 2 families at any one time.

Experience of negotiating commercial leases, team players.

Travel Details

The opportunity will take place in the Home-Start office 25 Greefern Road, Mastrick, Aberdeen.

Training and Induction Details

Full training and good support is provided to all volunteers.The Chairperson will go through the policies and procedures with prospective Trustees. Training and ongoing support is done through Home-Start UK when required.

Relevant out of pocket expenses are paid monthly, by cheque, on completion of an expenses form with attached receipts.

Frequency & Commitment

The Board meet Bi Monthly for approx. 3 hours. There are additional opportunities to get involved in sub-committees eg. Fundraising; Finance; Friends of Home-Start and Social Enterprise.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
