About Opportunity
The Group Coordinator arranges the monthly outings, rebooking the annual host schedule, and is the main contact for the group’s Volunteer Drivers and Hosts. The Group Coordinator welcomes new volunteers into the group and does the necessary administrative tasks to ensure the group runs smoothly each month. Group Coordinators also meet and assess new older members prior to them joining the group and visit new Host’s homes to ensure suitability for access etc. The Regional Development officer will provide all necessary training and support and you will shadow the RDO prior to making visits on your own. The Group Coordinator will usually also be a driver on the outings each month and therefore have access to a car. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? About Contact the Elderly in Scotland
Contact the Elderly aims to relieve the acute loneliness and isolation of people over the age of 75. We do this by organising small groups of volunteer drivers who take our elderly members to a volunteer host’s home for tea one Sunday afternoon a month. The group is warmly welcomed by a different host each month, but the drivers remain the same which means that over the months and years, acquaintances turn into friends and loneliness is replaced by companionship.
