About Opportunity
Would you like to drive (and join) a few elderly people to a tea party just ONCE A MONTH? Many older people feel lonely and isolated, so a trip to see new people and make friends makes a great difference. Once a month, on a Sunday afternoon, you will, as part of a small team of 3-4 volunteer drivers pick up 1-2 older people, who live local to you, and together you visit a volunteer host for afternoon tea for a couple of hours. It is the same drivers and members that get together each month and they go to the home of a different host each month, but visit them year after year. The older people are over 75, live alone and haven't got anyone to share thoughts with, so for them these regular outings are a real lifesaver, and you will have as much fun as them. It is a great opportunity to make a real difference and have great fun at the same time. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? "If you are interested in this opportunity please get in touch with us using the contact details on this page. Alternatively you can register your interest directly using the Register Interest facility". If you do not receive a response within 5 working days, please contact the Volunteer Centre. After submitting the application form there will be an informal interview. It generally takes around [6 weeks] after you contact us to get you started.

About Contact the Elderly in Scotland
Contact the Elderly aims to relieve the acute loneliness and isolation of people over the age of 75. We do this by organising small groups of volunteer drivers who take our elderly members to a volunteer host’s home for tea one Sunday afternoon a month. The group is warmly welcomed by a different host each month, but the drivers remain the same which means that over the months and years, acquaintances turn into friends and loneliness is replaced by companionship.
Skills & Experience
We are seeking volunteers with a warm, considerate personality. Good driver, safe car. Reliable, dependable. Relating well to the elderly.
