When We Need You
From 11/02/2013 onwards
About Opportunity
Recycling a single aluminium can will save enough energy to run a T.V. for 3 hours! Join us and support our mission to reduce waste sent to landfill. Min age 18. Deliver support and advice on composting, reuse and other activities which relate to our daily lives. As a Zero Waste Champion you will help run and attend events, workshops and meetings focused on our four main campaigns: Love Food Hate Waste, Home Composting, Recycle Now and Stop the Drop. You will be able to advise people on the best techniques for composting and recycling and on ways to manage food waste. We are very flexible. Volunteers can specialise in their own areas of interest and choose how they would like to contribute to the project. A typical session could involve: • Manning an advice stall on reducing food waste, giving tips and ideas for ways to reduce household food waste and save money. • Giving advice to a local group on planning for meals, recipe ideas, portion sizes and freezing food. • Giving a composting workshop for a local community group. The kinds of events we attend range from anything from major shows like the BBC Good Food Show to local events within the community. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? Ideally you should use the REGISTER INTEREST form/button below or phone us during office hours, and within 5 working days we'll send you an application form. It can take 4-6 weeks to get you started.
