About Opportunity

People with an interest or experience in coaching sports are needed to coach young people, aged 10-18, in voluntary and statutory youth clubs in Pollokshields, Govanhill, Gorbals and Toryglen. Sports coaches will be asked to assist in the development of football and other sports in the South-East of Glasgow working with vulnerable young people in partnership with other youth workers. About Southside Youth Work Support Agency

To increase the skills of volunteer and frontline youth work members of staff. To improve the services available to young people in the South East of Glasgow and surrounding areas. To provide community learning and development opportunities to meet the needs of our members and wider community.

Skills & Experience

Volunteers will ideally have some experience of sports coaching, youth work, or working with children and young people. We are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic, committed and have a genuine interest in supporting young people who are vulnerable.

Travel Details

Opportunities take place throughout South-East Glasgow.

Application Form, Induction/Training, Interview, Police Check, References

Training and Induction Details

All volunteers will be given an induction, and regular support and supervision sessions with a member of the committee. We have funding for SFA football coaching courses in the Spring. These courses can lead on to becoming a qualified sports coach.

Frequency & Commitment

Hours to be agreed, dependant on running times of youth clubs, with a minimum commitment of 6 months, ideally.
