About Opportunity
Main Duties and Responsibilities > To assist with the ongoing development through a methodical, well organised approach > To undertake internet desk based research > To collect and collate information and data in tables and figures > To assist in identifying and liaising with local community groups, statutory and non-statutory bodies involved in emergency planning and response. > To undertake or assist with semi-structured interviews with statutory and voluntary organisations > To record and present information accurately and clearly > To analyse the findings and produce a report in line with the guidelines and template > To keep and maintain accurate records and on file > To keep your supervisor up to date on progress and any difficulties encountered > To undertake any other tasks, relevant to the role, in agreement with your supervisor > To treat all information given by external organisations and British Red Cross staff and other voluntary agencies, as confidential at all times and in line with organisational policy and procedures > To work with a diverse group of volunteers, colleagues and external individuals/organisations > To work within the British Red Cross Health and Safety policy and to maintain a safe working environment at all times > To uphold the Fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement and to work within the Society’s equal opportunities policy

Skills & Experience
• Good interpersonal skills • Ability to communicate effectively with British Red Cross personnel and external agencies both verbally and in writing • Good communication skills, ability to listen, retain and disseminate information • Competency with IT applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Access • Research skills • The ability to present information accurately, clearly and concisely • Highly organised with good attention to detail • Positive and proactive approach to getting things done • Ability to plan personal daily research activities within a specified programme and deal with issues which may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines • Ability to work alone and unsupervised as needs dictate • Ability to work as part of a team
