About Opportunity
Bookdonors is a successful social firm that provides employment and training opportunities for people with disabilities and learning difficulties. We are looking for a Support Worker to work with our supported adult volunteers to allow them to make a meaningful contribution to the workplace. A Support Worker can make a significant difference to the lives of our supported volunteers who love coming to work and seeing their friends whilst giving their families some time off their caring duties. Typically a Support Worker will be supporting no more than 3 or 4 volunteers with learning difficulties within the workplace.

About Bookdonors Community Interest Company
Bookdonors is a successful socila enterprise. It collects tonnes of second-hand books each week from over 100 charities. They are processed to be sold on the internet: it has 100,000 books for sale online. The charities receive £500 a tonne for all books that are reused. It has given almost £80,000 in its first 3 years. It also gives 1000s of free books away to help literacy development in Scottish Borders and abroad through its Books For All Scheme.
Its team ranges in age from 16 - 70. Staff volunteers people on work placement training: people with and without disabilities, carers, single parents, students. All supporting each other and helping our charities and Books For All Scheme.

Bookdonors warehouse is based at Burnmill, Philiphaugh, Selkirk. There is an adjacent car park and a bus stop nearby.
Restrictions
This post requires someone with a mature attitude with a sense of responsibility and care.

Training and Induction Details
All volunteers given induction training and on the job training. Other training needs are addressed as they are identified. Support is available from the senior management staff

Expenses Detail
Travel costs are refunded on a weekly or monthly basis depending on the volunteer. Full bus fares are reimbursed upon receipt of bus tickets. Car mileage is based on .40p per mile
