This poost will support Dof E groups throughout the region. You will help organise and train young people participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, wether it be through outdoor activity training, delivering skills or volunteering opportunities or simply leanding a helping hand.

About Community Learning and Development (Nithsdale)
Community Learning and Development (CLD) is learning and social development work with individuals and groups in their communities using a range of formal and informal methods. A common defining feature is that programmes and activities are developed in dialogue with communities and participants... (CLD's) main aim is to help individuals and communities tackle real issues in their lives through community action and community-based learning.
Skills & Experience
Any skills can be applied. Particular interest is for volunteers with hill walking exerience and the ability to train others in the skills needed to navigate and be self reliant when out on walking excursions.
Travel Details
The opportunity will happen throughout Dumfries and Galloway with specific bases at the Dof E Centres at key locations - Langholm, Lockerbie, Annan, Dumfries, Thornhill, sanquhar, Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas, Gatehouse, Kirkcudbright, Newton Stewart, Stranraer.

Induction to volunteering with the council, specific Duke of edinburgh's Award training, Hill Leader training, first aid training, youth work training.

Expenses Detail
It is CLD policy that no volunteer be out-of-pocket as a result of their volunteering. All expenses sholud be discussed and pre-agreed with your supervisor. We can reimburse public transport costs or car milage (at standard council rate) and lunch for those volunteering for a full day (more than four hours) up to the value of £3.50. Any anicipated further expenses will need to be discussedand agreed between the Volunteer and their line manager in consideration of the available budget.

Frequency & Commitment
2 hours a week also some weekends on negotiation. Mininmum commitment 6 month to a year, depending on what level of training the volunteer take up.
