(CEI) Path Maintenance Project (New Cumnock Areas)
When We Need You
From 09/11/2011 onwards
The CEI is a small charity – just two members of staff! The charity has received funding to improve the New Cumnock access network. Works will begin in 2012 and help will be needed to keep these paths maintained well into the future. You will be working outdoors, helping with the paths, cutting back vegetation and topping up path substrate. There is also the potential to help with annual events and guided walks. We are looking for people with an interest in accessing the natural world around them and who have good communication skills and a friendly and calm approach with members of the public. The work can on occasion be quite physical so an adequate level of fitness is required.
About (CEI) Coalfield Environment Initiative
To deliver a high quality environment for the people of East Ayrshire by implementing conservation projects that offset the negative impacts of coal mining.
Skills & Experience
None - training will be provided as necessary. Good physical fitness levels are required, however, as some of the work will be quite physical.
The CEI office is based in Muirkirk, however most of the work carried out by the CEI is currently in the New Cumnock area. Meetings can take place in locations closer to where you live if within East Ayrshire – otherwise they will need to take place at Garan House, Muirkirk. Path maintenance sessions will run for two hours and there are approximately two sessions per month – we would be grateful if you could attend at least one session per month.
