About Opportunity
Each session involves setting up the toy library - moving some chairs and tables, and bringing boxes of toys out from the storage cupboards nearby. There are a whole range of toys for pre school children which are kept clean, checked for damage, replaced etc. The community room is always warm and provides a good space for parents/carers to come with their children to play and choose toys to borrow. There is a simple booking out system - each toy has a number and label tied to it. Each member has a card envelope - the labels from the toys they borrow fit inside. Toy libraries are brilliant - they provide a safe and secure environment in which children can play with and borrow different toys. This gives them more choice and more play opportunities - fundamentally important to the developing child. You could be part of the growing development of toy libraries, as they gain more recognition for the important work that they do.
