About Opportunity
To provide support to children and young people with disabilities to join youth clubs and organisations. The volunteering will take place in organisations such as brownies, scouts and youth clubs, but you will receive training and on-going support from PLUS. Count me volunteers will provide support to children and young people in youth groups, clubs or social groups, by encouraging and supporting communication and interaction with their peers. Supporting young people may also mean taking part in the group or clubs activities such as playing games, doing arts and crafts or just “chilling out”. Volunteers will take part in briefings/debriefing before and after events and would be expected to complete all necessary forms or reports as part of their volunteering role. Volunteers would not be expected to undertake responsibilities without appropriate training and support and without the agreement of the project manager. Where a volunteer has particular skills and training already, these can be used – for example, a volunteer with an appropriate First Aid qualification could administer first-aid at an event with prior agreement from the project manager.
