About Opportunity

The Solicitors’ Room Coffee Bar at Edinburgh Sheriff Court has operated successfully for many years, fulfilling two aims: to provide refreshments for lawyers using the Common Room between appearances in Court, and to raise funds from the profit on takings (approx. £15,000 per year) to distribute to local charities. The Coffee Bar is open each weekday morning, with two volunteers on duty at all times. The ‘regular’ volunteers (whose shifts vary to suit the individual) are backed up by ‘reserve’ volunteers, who are able to provide cover for the ‘regulars’ during holidays and sickness absences. All volunteers are invited to help decide which charities etc. Should benefit from the money raised. Volunteers must be willing to commit to one year for this opportunity.
