About Opportunity

FOCCUS is a programme, normally delivered over 2 or 3 sessions, to enable couples to explore their relationship in some depth. Although not exclusive, most couples attend FOCCUS as part of a marriage preparation programme.

In the first session couples meet as a group and they individually complete a detailed questionnaire. This takes between 45 and 60 minutes. It is then processed to identify their relationship’s unique profile. A week or so later they will return for an individual feedback session with you, their FOCCUS facilitator.

This second meeting is a chance for couples to discover more about each other. For many it is a very special session, helping to identify and appreciate the strengths and opportunities in their life together.

Volunteering as a FOCCUS facilitator with SMC is an opportunity for you to enhance your own interpersonal skills and be part of an organisation, which is committed to healthy relationships and family life.

About Scottish Marriage Care

At Scottish Marriage Care we believe that positive relationships are at the heart of a successful Scotland. Whether we are SINGLE, MARRIED, COHABITING, with or without CHILDREN, our lives are stabilised, enhanced, and energised by healthy relationships. However, relationships can easily become a source of conflict, distress and regret.

Through either our Counselling service, Stepfamily Helpline or Early Intervention programmes, we will work with you to strengthen and improve your relationships and family life.

We offer FOCCUSed marriage preparation sessions, and relationship MOTs. These useful relationship development tools can help you build stronger, healthier relationships and reduce the risk of relationship crisis in the future.
