When We Need You

About Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for volunteers to mentor individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing them with specific skills to progress in life. No experience of ASD is required as training is provided. Mentors support people with ASD to gain the skills and confidence they need to progress in life. Typically, it is a one-to-one relationship between a more experienced and a less experienced person in certain areas. It is based upon encouragement, constructive comments, openness, mutual trust, respect and a willingness to learn and share. It has agreed upon goals and is time limited (6 months to 1 year). If you have these qualities and time to give then get in touch! Volunteering is great for personal development and growth and you will gain a great sense of achievement. Volunteers will not be out of pocket as expenses are paid. Free training is also provided and the time commitment is a few hours per week or fortnight. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? You should ocntact us ideally by phone or email using the contact details on the right or select the REGISTER INTEREST button. If you do not receive a response within 14 days, please contact the VolunteerCentre. It generally takes between 2 and 3 months after you contact us to get you started.
