Concrete Garden - Eat What You Grow Volunteer
When We Need You
From 24/08/2011 onwards
About Opportunity
Growing lots of healthy fruit and vegetables is great, but what do you do with them next? Combine your cooking experience and teaching skills to take our produce and teach people healthy, cheap and interesting recipes. A basic knowledge of growing your own fruit and vegetables would be advantageous but not necessary. Main duties would include planning and delivering cookery workshops (with support if needed) and helping in the garden from time to time (picking fruit and veg for your recipes etc). Concrete Garden (Charity no SCO34257) is a community space for growing fruit and vegetables in Possilpark. The garden is located on land reclaimed from industrial use and is designed in a modular system of grow boxes and bags made from recycled materials. We provide growing space and learning opportunities for local individuals, families and organisations. We're also used by local community groups for arts activities and therapeutic projects. We are looking for a number of volunteers to help keep this project running smoothly. If you have some time to help out and would enjoy being part of our team, meet new people and maybe pick up some new skills please get in touch. HOW DO I GET INVOLVED: contact us directly by email, phone or in writing or select REGISTER INTEREST now. We will then make arrangements to meet for an interview. If you do not hear back from us within 7 working days, please contact the Volunteer Centre. It should take around 3 weeks to start volunteering with us.
