About Opportunity
Highway is a small group with charity status specifically for people living in Highland Perthshire with learning disabilities and/or who are on the autistic spectrum. This is a great opportunity for volunteers who are interested in people, want to learn new skills and develop, keep existing skills active and contribute to the planning, organising and relevant paperwork associated with committee work, We need you to volunteer to support members in their role in the committee or to take on a role on the committee.
About Highway
To inform the public of the needs of people with a learning disability or of people in the autistic spectrum. To bring people with a earning disability together. Improve access to opportunities, to meet people, learn and do activities in local community settings. Encourage people who provide services to deliver services that respond to the needs of peop-le with a learning disability work towards including people with a learning disability or those on the autistic spectrum, as valued individuals in the community.
Skills & Experience
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life who want to get more involved in the community. We need volunteers to help support members in their role on the committee or to take a position on the committee. Ideally you would have previous experience of committee work, though this is not essential, be a good communicator and generally bring your talents to help Highway operate in a way that reflects the will of the membership and our aims as expressed in the constitution.
Travel Details
There are 6 meetings a year held in either Aberfeldy or Pitlochry which we would need you to participate in. The committee meetings are designed to encourage the full participation of the members and are fairly relaxed. When possible, we like to spend some time socially. Meetings are held in Community resources in either Aberfeldy or Pitlochry. We will whereverpossible look for wheelchair access though cannot guarantee as with disabled toilets.
