About Opportunity
The volunteers will form a team led by an experienced supervisor tasked with the care and on-going maintenance of the Park environment. The tasks will be varied including: Park maintenance works such as litter picks, painting/ repair of park furniture, notice boards and signage and other small works. Various environmental enhancement works including bulb and wildflower planting to compliment and add variety to existing landscape practices. Vegetation clearance – rhododendron, Himalayan balsam, bamboo Specific projects such as the restoration of the newt pond. This project involves the clearance of vegetation from around the overgrown pond, repairing the drainage to improve the flow of water into the newt pond and providing an area where frogs and toads will come to spawn. This will create another point of interest in the park for people to visit and interpretation will be provided. Travel Details
Rouken Glen Park – volunteers are required to make their own travel arrangements (travel expenses available if required) The Opportunity will take place every 3-4 weeks, (Weather Permitting) the leaders will contact volunteers as to when the projects will take place

Expenses Detail
All tools/ equipment and safety clothing such as gloves, hi-vis vests will be provided by ERC. Volunteers will require to provide their own clothing including rain jacket and boots and food/ drink as required. Public transport travelling expenses will be reimbursed upon receipt of a ticket on the day.

Frequency & Commitment
Will vary depending on the project but expected to be every 3-4 weeks and will depend on season . Anticipated time 10 am – 2 pm. volunteers are normally notified by email of next event.
