About Opportunity
Auchentibber has a fully equipped workshop which produces small woodwork items such as garden furniture which is then sold on, all donations being distributed to local charities. We are a resource operated and managed by South Lanarkshire Council Social Work Resources. It offers a service and opportunities to clients who have received a sentence by the local courts to undertake unpaid work as part of their sentence. Many of our clients lack the necessary skills/knowledge/experience and confidence to gain permanent employment. As part of our rehabilitation program clients who have undergone rigorous risk assessments are offered the opportunity to attend the workshop. Clients are offered the opportunity and support to learn/develop new and valuable skills which goes someway to instilling confidence, reducing offending and preparing them for employment. The service is aiming: To improve the variety and quality of goods produced, to secure the services of an experienced (carpenter/joiner) volunteer, who would offer support and guidance to clients.
