About Opportunity
People benefit in many different ways by working as an Abbeyfield volunteer. They get to put their skills to good use and have the opportunity to learn new ones; they devote their spare time to a worthy cause; they get to become a part of a caring team, and they get to take pleasure in helping our residents to enjoy a comfortable, fulfilling life and meaningful social interaction. A Friend Volunteer will regularly visit the residents in the home, help organise outings and coffee mornings with the staff and volunteers. They may take the resident to the library or a doctor's appointment if needed. Friends can also help put together a newsletter for residents, play games with residents and even help out in the garden.
