About Opportunity

General duties include : Assist our service user volunteers to : Open and close the café, which would include setting up tables/chairs. Demonstrate excellent hygiene and food handling practise. Prepare and cook food before and during opening hours Help to design and develop the menu Help to upkeep and clean kitchen appliances. Serve customers and keep tables clear and clean. This list is not exhaustive, however, the Hermitage is seeking to have committed, time tables volunteers to help run the café and to provide our service users with valuable work experiences.

About Autism Initiatives - Number 6

Provide meaningful support and services to people with High-Functioning Autism or Asperger's Syndrome, including developing social skills/opportunities and supporting access to education and employment.

Travel Details

Address is 11 Braids Hill Drive, EH10 6GZ. The Hermitage does not benefit from a direct bus service, however there are many buses that pass quite close. Please contact Stewart Campbell for more information.

Training and Induction Details

2 two hour sessions for induction on autism and project rules/boundaries etc. Further training dependant on individual. Individual supervision on at least a monthly basis.

Working to a limited budget we are able to pay bus fares to and from the place of volunteering.

Frequency & Commitment

Minimum 5 hours per week. Days and times to be agreed to suit the volunteer and opening hours of the café.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
