About Opportunity
Helping with neighbourly tasks..... Volunteers help in a simple and practical way. Examples include: collecting shopping, pensions, prescriptions or a library book; providing transport to health centres, visit friends, hospital visiting, social occasions or go shopping; being a companion for a carer and providing home from hospital support. Volunteers on the scheme are placed on a central register giving details of what tasks they are willing to cover, availability, either regular or occasional days and times, emergencies only or simply on call. Each volunteer makes a choice about his/her commitment, and what they decide we appreciate as their gift of time. Telephone co-ordinators........ In our schemes in rural Perthshire, Good Neighbours telephone co-ordinators are at the end of a telephone helpline ready to find a WRVS volunteer to help with a task. It's an ideal opportunity for good organisers and people who are less mobile and enjoy speaking to others on the telephone. Other volunteering roles...... We're keen to welcome volunteers to help us with administration and distributing literature and promoting the scheme in their area.
