About Opportunity

The needle exchange/resource room is open from 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday providing: - sterile injecting equipment - information about drugs/alcohol - condom distribution / sexual health information - pregnancy testing - referral to other services within WFCDT - referral to other agencies In addition to the daily drop-in service, planned weekly support groups are held within the building and scheduled triage assessment clinics. After training the opportunity to be involved in all of these services would be offered.

About Fife Community Drugs (VC)

Fife Community Drugs offer a range of services to people at risk of, or experiencing, problem drug use and or sexual health problems. These services are provided in an informal and non-judgemental setting. Services include advice and information on drug use and other related issues eg HIV, Hepatitis B and C, wound care, safe injecting practices, needle exchange, counseling, drugs outreach work,and sexual health issues, pregnancy testing and condom distribution. All service are available to young people.

Skills & Experience

Volunteers are required to have a non-judgemental approach to drugs and alcohol issues. Volunteers must be aware that confidentiality is crucial in working with drug users. A mature attitude and the ability to relate to young people also advantageous.

Travel Details

The opportunity happens at 8 Viewfield Terrace, Dunfermline, behind Carnegie Hall Volunteers will be given a travel voucher to get to and from work or mileage will be paid at 40p per mile Volunteers will be given an allowance for a light lunch if working longer than 5 hours

Restrictions

Nature of work involved and the service being delivered is not appropriate for under 21 years.
