About Opportunity

The main purpose is to support the sewing tutor in the running of the sewing class Key Responsibilities are • To work as part of at team led by the sewing tutor: • To assist people with their sewing work when required, both hand and machine sewing • To maintain a welcoming and supportive presence during class • To assist in setting up and clearing away the sewing equipment and materials • To assist generally with the practical needs of people during class • To bring regular commitment to the role on a weekly basis

About ACCESS to TRAINING and EMPLOYMENT

The aim of Access to Training and Employment is to promote the involvement of people with disabilities in training and employment. Crafty Things the project concerned aim is to produce high quality textile goods in an atmosphere conducive to the challenges faced by people with disabilities.

Skills & Experience

Do you like working with fabrics? Are you competent with sewing and or using a sewing machine ? Have you had any experience in working with people with learning or other disabilities or other people who Face challenges ? Do you enjoy working as a member of a team? You would need to be a low-key communicator, who would bring good humour, care and consideration and be supportive, friendly and patient

Travel Details

Crafty Things is based at the Rubislaw Church Centre 1 Beaconsfield Place on the corner of Beaconsfield Place off Fountainhall Road near to Queens Cross. From Union street get bus’s 14, 20 or x17 to Queens Cross.

Induction/Training, Informal Chat, Interview, Police Check, References

Training and Induction Details

Good support provided to all volunteers Introduction to Crafty Things and to Access to Training and Employment Introduction to practical requirements in supporting the Crafty Things class. Support on a week to week basis
