About Opportunity

Typical tasks and responsibilities include: conveying passengers and escorts safely from their starting point to their final destination; assisting passengers to and from the vehicle; if using a Red Cross vehicle, performing routine checks on the vehicle, recording information in the logbook and reporting any defects/incidents; if using the driver's own vehicle to ensure that it is maintained to legal requirements (i.e. current MOT, insurance, car tax etc.); to keep and maintain accurate records; to deliver the service in line with British Red Cross standards, policies and principles and to work with other team members and the manager to ensure the smooth running of the service.

Skills & Experience

One satisfactory reference. An empathy with vulnerable people in receipt of care services. The ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality. Able to work on your own as well as part of a team. A commitment to equal opportunities and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross.

Travel Details

In and around Dundee area.

Restrictions

Volunteers require a full driving license and use of a car.

Application Form, Induction/Training, Informal Chat, Interview, Police Check, References

Training and Induction Details

We provide training in relevant skills, including an induction to the British Red Cross. Volunteers are also expected to attend ongoing training and volunteer meetings.

Frequency & Commitment

You and your manager will discuss how much time you are able to give. Volunteering opportunities depend on local needs, so some areas may need volunteers more regularly or for longer hours than others
