About Opportunity

The young people who come to the group are between S1 and S6, they are desperate to learn, keen to make clothes for themselves and incorporate their design ideas. It is a very hands on group who like to be kept busy.

About Penicuik-Community Learning & Development Team

New Vintage is a Sewing/Design/Making/Handiwork Project – it is introducing Young People to sewing/knitting/crocheting working with them on their ideas, to remodel and make clothes how to make patterns and work with their ideas. Introducing them to skills of sewing either by hand or using a machine, cutting, using and making patterns. We are looking for volunteers particularly knitters who would be interested in teaching young people this skill. Showing young people how to knit a basic item. We will be meeting on Friday afternoons 1-3 from Friday 14 January – Friday 1 April

Skills & Experience

Being able to knit/crochet or sew either by hand or using a machine.. Enjoy showing people a new skill, lots of patience and a good sense of humour!

Travel Details

We meet on a Friday afternoon 1pm-3pm in Penicuik High School, during school term times.
