About Opportunity

Home Basics reuses donated items of furniture, white goods, electrical items and furnishings and sells them at reduced cost to those in need. Surplus is sold to the general public to support the charity. Following a change in premises we now require sales staff to work directly with the general public Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm (10-2 on Saturday

About Home Basics (Tweeddale)

Home Basics is a non-profit organisation that provides furniture and other household items for the disadvantaged in our community Also a recipient of the prestigious Queens Golden Jubilee Award for voluntary groups in the community - Unsung Heroes.

Skills & Experience

Good manners, smart appearance, good with general public. Some IT procedures involved. No specific skills or experience are required, but any experience sales, retail or working in a charity shop would be useful.

Travel Details

The Home Basics shop is located in Unit 2 Annfield Mill, Teviot Cresent, Hawick, directly opposite B&M Bargains.

Restrictions

We are unable to provide supervision to young people

Requirements

Induction/Training, Interview, References

Training and Induction Details

Induction will include procedures within the organisation, site familiarity, First Aid/Accident reporting, key contacts, etc. Ongoing training will be provided where necessary.. Ongoing support will be provided by the Volunteer Development Worker
