About Opportunity
(NB: Now Recruiting - Autumn 2011) The volunteer will gain experience in delivering health checks and working with the public. Will have access to a range of mental health training courses, in-house health training modules, and experience of working with people who want to make positive health changes to their lifestyle, as well as having the opportunity to work with people with mental health issues. Anyone using the CHIP service will benefit from the following; Information on health behaviour change Walking Groups Exercise Classes Comprehensive Health Checks including blood pressure, body composition analysis, peak flow test and grip strength Brief interventions around alcohol, and signposting onto relevant agencies, health professionals, projects, agencies etc. Advice on smoking and various lifestyle issues and referral onto to relevant agencies if necessary

Skills & Experience
An interest in physical activity (not sport!) & health and well-being is essential, as is a willingness to work with people with mental health issues.
Travel Details
Various locations throughout East Ayrshire. Own transport desirable, but not essential.
Restrictions
Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check (paid by us). Working with vulnerable adults.

Training and Induction Details
Every volunteer will be given a formal Health induction that introduces him/her to the section. On-going training wll be offered in relelvant courses such as Scottish Mental Health, First Aid, ASIST, Safetalk.

Frequency & Commitment
We would ask that the volunteer commits to giving us 50 hours of volunteering throughout their placement to justify us providing training.
