About Opportunity

MAINTENANCE tasks include: timber treatment, boardwalk construction and repair, path maintenance, ditch and pond clearance, tree cutting, pruning, log splitting, strimming, raking fencing, bridge building, bird & bat box construction, wildlife and weather recording, floor sweeping and washing, de-icing and cleaning of windows, spraying, tree & shrub planting, feeding wildlife. ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: Help to develop educaional resources, work with local school groups at the reserve & elsewhere; work with community groups at Eskrigg Reserve; help man the Eskrigg Centre for visiting groups and individuals.

About Lockerbie Wildlife Trust

Objects of the Trust: - To encourage wildlife conservation - To manage such sites as the Trust accepts responsibility for - To promote the education and understanding of all age groups regarding local wildlife and its management - To encourage the use of Trust properties for educative recreation

Travel Details

Eskrigg Nature Reserve, near Lockerbie - 20 to 30 minute walk from town centre. It may be possible to arrange transport by car with the Reserve Manager to and from Lockerbie town centre.There is wheelchair access for members of the public to the Eskrigg Centre, and path through the Reserve, but no wheelchair access to many areas where voluntary work is required.

Restrictions

Volunteer will be expected to work unsupervised at times and must have a mobile phone for maintaining contact with Reserve Manager.

Volunteers would be provided with the necessary training and equipment required in order to carry out agreed maintenance and development tasks.
