About Opportunity
Alness Transition Town Group (ATTG) was established in 2008 to raise awareness of the twin challenges of peak oil and climate change and to provide encouragement and support to help Alness to evolve into a sustainable community. In 2009, ATTG became part of the Community Powerdown Consortium; a network of Scottish villages, towns and islands that are workig towards reducing their dependence on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. The Alness Home Energy Project was launched in 2010 to provide free and impartial energy efficiency advice to households in Alness and surroundign areas. Qualified Home Energy Advisors offer free home visits to provide professional yet personal service to help people save energy and money whilst also saving the planet. Home Energy Volunteers will help promote the Home Energy Advice Service in the local community as well as carry out home energy checks.
