About Opportunity

Volunteers wil provide support and information to deaf and hard of hearing people about hearing aids - whether to someone who has recently been prescribed a new hearing aid or someone who has had a hearing aid for a while. This could be providing assistance with how to put a hearing aid in the ear correctly, cleaning and re-tubing hearing aids as well as fitting new batteries. in addition, volunteers will provide information about equipment for deaf and hard of hearing people as well as demonstrating this equipment. Volunteers may be required to undertake home visits to provide support and information to hard to reach sections of the community. Volunteers may also provide the hearing aid support service on an outreach basis in various locations within the local community. Volunteers may also become trained to deliver talks to groups within the community about the work of RNID

Skills & Experience

A positive open attitude. a genuine interest in or personal experience of hearing loss would be an advantage although is not essential as full training will be given.

Training and Induction Details

A one days volunteer induction detailing the work of RNID and your role as a volunteer with RNID hearing aid volunteers will recieve further training on the use of hearing aids, retubing etc plus regular training about RNID products and so on.
