About Opportunity

The District Secretary will provide sound administrative support and information to the District. Responsible to the District Chairman, appointment requirements are that you understand and accept The Scout Association’s policies and have satisfactory CRB/Disclosure Scotland clearance. Key Tasks include: act as Secretary to the District Scout Council and the District Executive Committee; work closely with and support the District Chairman; maintain such records and lists of members and associate members for the efficient administration of the District; be a full and active member of the District Executive Committee; provide sound administration in respect of the obligations according to the Policy, Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association; work alongside the District Executive Committee in producing the Scout District Annual Report; and promote Scouting and be a liaison with outside bodies.

Scouting is a worldwide Movement. Scouting today provides challenge and adventure for young people aged between 6 and 25, including males and females. It is all about fun with a purpose – helping members to fulfil their potential as individuals and active members of society.

Skills & Experience

Good administrative skills, access to IT and knowledge of relevant software packages, good communication skills, and good verbal and written presentation skills.

Travel Details

The executive committee meet once every two months in David Street Hall Broughty Ferry Dundee.

Currently none of the lay volunteers claim travel expenses. However if this was a burning issue the matter could be discussed to reach an amicable agreement.

Frequency & Commitment

The hours are totally flexible and will fluctuate depending on what is happening across the district. The only formal commitment is to attend the executive meetings which are held every two months.
