When We Need You

From 19/01/2012 to 19/04/2012

About Opportunity

Greyfriars Kirk welcomes thousands of visitors each year to the Church for a variety of reasons; as a place of reflection, because of their interest in the history of the Kirk, to trace their ancestors or because of their fascination in the story of Greyfriars Bobby whose grave can be found in the kirkyard. We open to visitors from April to October and are currently undergoing a major refurbishment of our entry porch and visitor centre. These works are due for completion in March 2012 and will greatly enhance the visitor experience. Our Welcomers greet visitors with warmth and enthusiasm, showing them round the building/museum, giving information about the important heritage of the Kirk and its place in Scottish history and answering any questions visitors may have.

About Greyfriars Tolbooth and Highland Kirk

Greyfriars Tolbooth and Highland Kirk, built in 1620, was the first church built in Scotland after the reformation. The church is steeped in history, and is bursting with commitment, energy and knowledge. We seek to promote an inclusive society, where no-one is turned away or rejected, a society that encourages empowering love, where people are enabled to lead fulfilling lives, can feel good about themselves and give something back and can discover their spiritual identity as a child of God.
