About Opportunity
You will build up strong relationships with teachers and PE co-ordinators at schools within your agreed area through your contact with schools. You will be helping to encourage schools to participate in national fundraising events such as Jump Rope for Heart (skipping event) and Ultimate Dodgeball, which raise vital funds whilst improving children’s heart health. Where schools have supported the charity, you attend cheque presentations and thank your supporters for their help
About British Heart Foundation
The aim of British Heart Foundation is to play a leading role in the fight against heart disease so that its no longer a major cause of premature death or disability.
Skills & Experience
You will be a friendly outgoing individual with a natural empathy for children and young people. No prior knowledge of heart disease is required as full training will be given, but you will have an interest in health and some knowledge of the school system. You will have strong communication skills, and an ability to communicate well over the phone and face to face. You will enjoy speaking to others and be able to give clear and imaginative presentations to younger audiences. Having a strong commitment to the aims and work of BHF Scotland is important; as is that you are a non-smoker
Travel Details
Your own local area. You will be working independently with support from your local Fundraising Volunteer Manager and from your regional office. You will also build up your own local contacts within the schools and colleges that you work with.
Training and Induction Details
You will have support from existing volunteers and our fundraising staff, with the opportunity to gain and develop skills and to meet other volunteers.
