About Opportunity

In Memoriam giving is an important way for families affected by heart disease to remember a loved one and provide a vital source of funds to support the work of the chairty. In Memoriam donations are usally made by friends or faily in lieu of flowers at a funeral. The Gift of Hope Fund is an ongoing tribute fund usually set up by the family of a loved one who has passed away to remember them. This vital role is about promoting the importance of In Memoriam donations and the Gift of Hope to the work of the charity. You will be the local contact for In Memoriam donations, the role will inolve: Visiting funeral directors in your area, and being their point of contact with the charity. Building up a relationship with your funeral directors to help them understand the difference In Memoriam donations make to the charity, and how the money is spent. Delivering materials (Leaflets, envelopes etc) to funeral directors. Collecting and banking in Memoriam donations from funeral directors. Writing to bereaved families to acknowledge and thank them for their donations.

Skills & Experience

You will be friendly, outgoing individual with a natural empathy for people. You will have strong communication skills, and an ability to communicate well over the phone and face to face. You will enjoy speaking to and meeting others. Having a strong commitment to the aims and work of BHF Scotland in beating heart disease is important. A good knowledge of the local area will be an advantage. As will having acces to a car or good public transport links around the area.

Frequency & Commitment

This is negotiable, and will depends on the number of funeral directors you are working with, and the volume of donations that you recieve. Need to commit between 2 - 4 hours per week.
