About Opportunity
The Networks project aims to provide opportunities for young people to develop the personal, social and practical skills, as well as the sense of self worth necessary for independent adult life. The project aims to match young people with mentors, who would support the development of these skills and give the young person an opportunity to engage positively with others. As a mentor, you meet with a young person on a weekly basis for a couple of hours to engage in a social activity such as cinema trips, going for a coffee or simply going for a walk. The Mentees you will be working with are young people aged 15-25 who are or have been looked after in the Midlothian area. It is anticipated that you will commit 2-3 hours per week. Full mentoring training will be provided by Rock Trust Network staff, including confidentiality, boundary setting, lone working and personal safety. There is a minimum commitment of 1 year and a Disclosure Check is necessary. The project Support Workers will provide regular support to mentors. Application Form can be obtained by email from the Volunteer Centre.
